Steamed mackerel (tongkol) pepes offers a more special flavor than simply frying it – it just needs banana leaves, spices, mackerel, and fluffy rice.

- Clean the pindang cob, remove the head and thorns, set aside.
- Blend all the ground spices, add brown sugar, salt and stock powder. Stir well.
- Take 1 banana leaf, put enough tuna on it then add 2 tablespoons of ground spices. Add chopped tomatoes and basil leaves.
- Roll the banana leaves to wrap, pin the ends with a stick or toothpick. Do it until it's all finished.
- Steam for 20 minutes until the pepes are cooked.
